————————————————————————————–——————————————–——————–——
Total duration Beginners Course:
there are two options (you don’t need to make your choice immediately; you can first sign up for 24 hours of lessons (option 1), and decide later what you would like to do next)
(1) 24 hours for NT2* level A1 (Basic Dutch Course: 3 months in total). —> (* ‘NT2’ = Dutch as Second Language) (2) 48 hours for NT2* level A1 + A2 (Full Dutch Beginners Course: 6 months in total).
You can opt for taking the Basic Dutch Course only (just 24 hours), or combine this basic course with the next NT2 level: (A1 + A2: a total of 48 hours). That is our Full Dutch Beginners Course.
Targeted achievements:
—> If you complete NT2 level A1, you will have mastered 1,200 most commonly used Dutch words; you will be able to read most Dutch texts and you can form your very own (simple) Dutch sentences.
—> If you complete NT2 level A2, you will have mastered 2,500 most commonly used Dutch words, you will be able to read all kinds of Dutch texts and you will be able to converse in Dutch with regard to basic, common topics.
—> If you aim to further boost your conversational skills to much higher levels, you can extend your Beginners Course with a third round of 12 classes (intensified conversation & vocabulary training). You will reach NT2 level B1, which is intermediate stage.
Please be advised that you will need to study and practise at least 4 hours per week (additional self-study) in order to reach these targets. This means that the (minimum) total number of study-hours is:
· 24 hrs (classes) + 48 hrs (self-study) = 72 hrs for proficiency level A1
· 48 hrs (classes) + 96 hrs (self-study) = 144 hrs for proficiency level A2
Enhancement options after reaching NT2 level A2: NT2 level B1 (’Threshold’ Language Proficiency Level* ) & B2 (‘Vantage’ Language Proficiency Level*)
* according to the proficiency levels, set by the Council of Europe (link to Wikipedia, with a description of all CEFR levels)
(1) Level A1: ’Breakthrough’ Proficiency Level
This is the basic language course of choice for total Beginners, but it is also a very good preparation for MVV applicants (Civic Integration Exam).
It will provide you with lots of confidence during your MVV exam, since you will quickly master about 1,200 most commonly used Dutch words. This will help you to understand all possible questions and to repeat Dutch sentences with ease.
Important information for MVV applicants: the Dutch government has now set the new level of the Civic Integration Exam at NT2 level A1 (previously it used to be a lower level). Furthermore, soon there will be an additional section as well: a written exam. At this moment, this new exam has not been implemented yet, so if you hurry you will still be able to sit for your oral exam without the written part. But you will need to reach NT2 level A1 anyway nowadays, in order to be able to pass your MVV exam.
Excellent choice for EXCHANGE STUDENTS AND HOLIDAY TRAVELERS:
Our NT2-A1 course is very useful for those who are planning to travel to Holland any time soon, e.g. exchange students and holiday travelers, since it will provide you with the basics of the Dutch language, and you will also be able to form your very own Dutch sentences. That is — of course — very useful. For students and holiday travelers among our course participants, we will provide one special (additional) lesson to practise ‘survival phrases’. This is a free, additional service for those who sign up for our basic course, and is therefore not part of our NT2-A1 course.
or
(2) Level A1 + A2: ’Breakthrough’ + ‘Waystage’ Proficiency Level
This full Beginners Course comprises of NT2 level A1 + A2, thus both levels. First we start with the basic Dutch course (A1 = 12 classes of 2 hours each, so 24 hours in total) followed by the next sequence of 12 classes (A2), so a total of 24 classes = 48 hours.
The total course duration is 48 hours: 6 months.

Proficiency Tests & NT2 Certificates of Acknowledgement:
We can provide you with a ‘NT2 Certificate of Acknowledgement’. With such certificate, we acknowledge that you have reached NT2 proficiency level A1 or A2. Please note that you will need to sit for our NT2-A1 Proficiency Test before you can get such certificate. (Just attending our classes alone is not sufficient.) Additional exam fees are S$ 100/-.
NB: is not mandatory to sit for our written Basic Dutch Language Proficiency Test after the first sequence of 12 lessons; this is only required in case you would like us to officially acknowledge your NT2 proficiency level ‘NT2-A1’.
Of course, it would be good anyway to sit for the NT2-A1 Proficiency Test in order to determine your actual language skills, but such decision is entirely up to you.
NB: in order to be entitled to receive our NT2 Certificate of Acknowledgement, your score should be at least 75 out of 100 points, otherwise we can only provide you with a NT2 Certificate of Participation.
At the end of the full Beginners Course, there will be a second proficiency test for those who are interested to take such exam: NT2 proficiency level ‘NT2-A2’. So, it is also not mandatory to take this test, unless you would like us to officially acknowledge your NT2 proficiency level NT2-A2.
Target of our (full) Beginners Course: if you complete the full course (= 6 months), you will have reached language proficiency level NT2 — A2, in compliance with the strict requirements of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR), set by the Council of Europe. NT2 level A2 is the official Dutch language proficiency level (acknowledged by the Dutch government) for Naturalisation / Integration (exactly the same like the ‘Inburgeringscursus’ at the Regional Education Centers in The Netherlands). NT2 stands for: ’Dutch as Second Language (= ‘Nederlands als Tweede Taal’)
Rates: S$ 50/- per group lesson of 2 hours; please be advised that upon registration, an advance payment for the first sequence (12 x S$ 50/- = S$ 600/-) is required.
Please note that you are free to stop after the first module (12 lessons), or to continue with the second module of 12 lessons.
Venue: Kingsfield Education Centre is located at Orchard Business Hub, 150 Orchard Road #08-09, Orchard Plaza (opp. Orchard Central, next to Somerset MRT)
Requirements for registration: an advance payment of only S$ 600/- (for the first round of 12 classes) is required. We will provide you with an enrolment form and an official receipt.
