Oh Meisje - Esther Groenenberg from Esther Groenenberg on Vimeo.

Esther Groenenberg (from Zwolle) became a famous Dutch singer, simply by publishing her song ‘Oh Meisje’ on You Tube.  In no time, it became a hit in the popular ‘Top 100’.  (Dutch pop-song hit-list.)

This compelling Dutch song radiates an irresistible positive view on the beauty every woman carries within herself.  (The underlying message is: away with anorexia, away with face lifts!  Stop fussing about your skin tone or the size of your bra.

In other words: stop worrying about your looks and start living!)

Text Box: Oh meisje… (O, girl…)
Op elke pagina kan je de ribben tellen (on every page you can count the ribs)
Net zoals de botten en de vellen (just like the bones and skins)
Als ik zo’n meisje zie, dan zou ik willen weten... (if I see such girl, I would like to know...)
Heb jij het laatste jaar wel wat gegeten? (Did you actually eat anything last year?)
Oké misschien eet ik net iets te veel (Alright, maybe I myself eat a little too much)
Maar bij mij zit er tenminste beweging in m’n bil (but at least my bum can show off some motion)
Geen vinger in mijn keel, ik wil niet overgeven (no finger in the back of my throat, I don’t like to vomit)
En als ’t oorlog wordt, dan zal ik overleven (and if there will ever be war, I will survive).

Oh meisje vergeet niet te leven (o, girl, don’t forget to live)
Meisje vergeet niet te genieten (girl, don’t forget to enjoy things)
Je bent jong en je bent mooi (you are young and you are beautiful)
al zou je dunner willen zijn (although you wish you would be slimmer)
dus vergeet niet te leven (so don’t forget to live)
want het leven is fijn (because life is great)

Je bent niet mooi zonder botox injectie (you believe you are not beautiful without a botox injection)
Drieduizend euro voor een schaamlipcorrectie (three thousand euros for a ‘labia correction’)
Niets is te veel en niets is te gek (nothing is too much and nothing is too crazy)
De vrouw doet alles voor een strakke bek (a woman will do anything for a sexy look)
Maar ik vind rimpels bij mensen juist zo leuk (but actually I think wrinkles always look so cute on people)
Het geeft karakter, zo hier en daar een kreuk (it ensures character, such ‘crease’ here and there
Ik ben niet bang en ik ben ’t nooit geweest (I am not afraid, I have never been scared)
Krijg ik een rimpel, dan geef ik een feest. (If I’m getting a wrinkle, I will throw a party!)

Oh meisje vergeet niet te leven (o, girl, don’t forget to live)
Meisje vergeet niet te genieten (girl, don’t forget to enjoy things)
Je bent jong en je bent mooi (you are young and you are beautiful)
Al zou je jonger willen zijn (although you wish you would be younger)
Dus vergeet niet te leven (so don’t forget to live)
Want het leven is fijn (because life is great)

Oh meisje vergeet niet te leven (o, girl, don’t forget to live)
Meisje vergeet niet te genieten (girl, don’t forget to enjoy things)
Je bent jong en je bent mooi (you are young and you are beautiful)
Al zou je kleiner willen zijn (although you wish you would be smaller)
Dus vergeet niet te leven (so don’t forget to live)
Want het leven is fijn (because life is great)

Omhels je dikke kuiten (embrace your fat calves)
Omhels je sinaasappelhuid (embrace your ‘orange peel’ skin)
Omhels je pukkels en je gele tanden (embrace your pimples and your yellow teeth)
Je bent je eigen therapeut (you are your own therapist)

Oh meisje vergeet niet te leven (o, girl, don’t forget to live)
Meisje vergeet niet te genieten (girl, don’t forget to enjoy things)
Je bent jong en je bent mooi (you are young and you are beautiful)
al zou je dunner willen zijn (although you wish you would be slimmer)
dus vergeet niet te leven (so don’t forget to live)
Want het leven is fijn (because life is great)

Oh meisje
Oh me-me-me-me-me-meisje
Je bent jong en je bent mooi

al zou je mooier willen zijn… (‘mooier’ = more gorgeous)

Vergeet niet te leven !!! Don’t forget to live !!!

Dutch Crash Courses: these are private (one-to-one) sessions for those who are in a hurry.

Venue: the teacher’s private address or your own place / office.

Course duration: 10 sessions of 2 hours each (usually on one fixed day per week, so that would be a duration of two and a half months in total, but it is also possible to have sessions on more days per week).

Rates: S$ 990/- for the complete private crash course of 20 hours.  (If you like to practise a bit more, you can sign up for some additional private lessons after your 10th lesson: see last paragraph below on ’Private lessons’), so your Crash Course is always extendible, if you wish.

MVV Training Sessions: (for Long Term Visa Application). If you need to sit for your Civic Integration Exam at the Dutch Embassy in Singapore, this is the course you need to prepare yourself. These are private (one-to-one) lessons to practise a large range of real Civic Integration Exam questions, to assess your knowledge and skills.

Course duration: 8 sessions of 2 hours each.   Target: obtaining a visa for The Netherlands with a duration of 1 year.

Rates: S$ 880/- for the complete course of 16 hours  (Please read the important remark in orange below!)

Naturalisation Courses: in order to successfully apply for naturalisation, (= obtaining Dutch Citizenship, right here in Singapore) you will need to pass a special test at the Dutch Embassy here.  This test (duration: 4 hours) comprises of an NT2 language test (NT2 proficiency level A2) and a knowledge test regarding Dutch Society.  During private (one-to-one) sessions, we will intensively focus on both subjects.  Social studies are the second mandatory part of the Dutch naturalisation test, and therefore, we will teach you these basics as well.  Rates: S$ 100/- per private lesson (2 hours).

NB: Please note that it is NOT possible to receive a Dutch passport based on passing the MVV exam at the Dutch Embassy.  (We have noticed that some Singaporeans are not aware of this.)  The only true fact is that a successful MVV exam provides a visa for temporary stay only (one year with the possibility of an extension), provided you comply with the strict rules of the Dutch Immigration authorities (IND: Immigration & Naturalisation Department in The Netherlands).

Private lessons: these are individual, custom-made lessons of 2 hours each, specifically catering to your personal needs.  We work with a large range of professional NT-2 teaching aids, developed in The Netherlands, specifically catering to your personal target.  Rates: S$ 50/- per hour.
